OutVault launches August 4, 2026

See what's coming

Does OutVault work offline?

Yes, fully. Your vault lives on your device, so opening, reading, adding and organising your files works with no internet connection at all — on a plane, in a basement, or with Wi‑Fi that’s having a bad week.

An internet connection is used for exactly one thing: syncing changes between your devices. When you come back online, whatever you added or changed while offline is encrypted on your device and then synced. Until then, nothing is waiting on a server to load.

Why it works this way

OutVault is offline-first: the copy on your device is the real thing, not a cached preview of something that lives in the cloud. That’s a deliberate design choice with two consequences worth knowing:

  • No connection, no problem. The vault never shows you an empty screen because a server is unreachable. Your files are simply there.
  • Sync is an addition, not a requirement. The free app is a complete local vault. Encrypted sync between devices is what the Premium plan adds — see what happens if you stop paying for how that works out over time.
